Upcoming training programmes and activities for 2016

This year we have planned for the following activities:

  1. MHAF’s Mental Health Training 1 programme (Mental Health Gap training based on the mhGAP Intervention Guide for neurological and substance use disorders in non-specialised health settings, published by WHO in September 2011) for 30 participants between training 6 days course, to start on Sunday the 17th of July, to Saturday the 23rd of July with a 1 day break on Friday the 22nd.  This year we intend to recruit at the least 1 participant from all the major atolls.
  2. MHAF’s Mental Health Training 2 programme, Training of Trainers for Mental Health Awareness and Psychological First Aid. This year we are changing this 2 days course to train trainers to target an even bigger group of people through carefully selected recruitment of participants. The dates for these are on Sunday the 24th and Monday the 25th of July.
  3. A closing ceremony and certificate awarding ceremony on the evening of Monday the 25th of July.
  4. In October, to mark the World Mental Health day on 10th of October, we are planning 2 weeks of activities in the first 2 weeks in October including social media campaigns and stalls promoting mental health and with aim of reducing stigma associated with mental illness.
